CHAPTER 25 — 120 to 0 Ma tectonic evolution of the southwest Pacific and analogous geological evolution of the 600 to 220 Ma Tasman Fold Belt System
نویسنده
چکیده
The Tasman Fold Belt System makes up most of the crust of eastern Australia and consists of three broadly north–south-oriented fold belts (Figure 1) that record a continuing history of crustal growth from 600 Ma until at least the Triassic. Taking into account the 800–600 Ma Adelaide Rift Complex further west, this eastward younging of the Geological Society of Australia Special Publication 22, 377–397

The tectonic history of the Tasman Sea: A puzzle with 13 pieces
We present a new model for the tectonic evolution of the Tasman Sea based on dense satellite altimetry data and a new shipboard data set. We utilized a combined set of revised magnetic anomaly and fracture zone interpretations to calculate relative motions and their uncertainties between the Australian and the Lord Howe Rise plates from 73.6 Ma to 52 Ma when spreading ceased. From chron 31 (67....
متن کاملRole of supra-subduction zone ophiolites in the tectonic evolution of the southeastern Zagros Orogenic Belt, Iran
Ophiolitic rocks in the southeastern part of the Zagros Orogenic Belt can be separated from southwest to northeast, into two groups: the Neyriz ophiolites and the Naien–Shahrebabak–Baft ophiolites. The southeast sector of Sanandaj-Sirjan wasdelimited by the two nearly synchronous ophiolitic belts in its southwestern and northeastern margins. In this study, new ophiolitic formation models were u...
متن کاملTectonosedimentary evolution of the basins in Central Alborz, Iran
Evidence of at least ten different tectonic- controlled sedimentary basins can be recognized in the central part of the Alborz Mountains in the Middle part of the Alpine-Himalayan belt. They formed from Neoprotrozoic to recent time as the results of the relative plate motion in southwest of Asia in Tethyan realm. The basins include: (1) Prototethys Late Neo-Proterozoic to Early Ordovician epi-c...
متن کاملMiddle Paleozoic convergent orogenic belts in western Inner Mongolia (China): framework, kinematics, geochronology and implications for tectonic evolution of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt
Based mainly on field geological observation and geochronologic data, six tectonic units have been recognized in western Inner Mongolia (China), including, from south to north: North China Craton (NCC), Southern Orogenic Belt (SOB), Hunshandake Block (HB), Northern Orogenic Belt (NOB), South Mongolia microcontinent (SMM), and Southern margin of Ergun Block (SME), suggesting that the tectonic fr...
متن کاملMetamorphism of Late Neoproterozoic-Early Cambrian Schists in Southwest of Zanjan from the Soltanieh Belt in Northwest of Iran
Late Neoproterozoic-Early Cambrian schists have been occurred in southwest of Zanjan city from the Soltanieh belt. The Soltanieh belt in northwest of Iran is uplifted basement of Precambrian-Paleozoic in main central Iran zone and includes outcrops of Precambrian, Paleozoic and Mesozoic Formations. Late Neoproterozoic-Early Cambrian schists, the oldest stratigraphy unit in the region, consist o...
